Default Gas tank

with 1987 Honda Accord LX Carburated car i have and issue that i can not seem to solve..

when the gas gauge gets to half a tank it acts like it's out of gas but when i go to fill it up it only take roughly 8 gallons but its a 16 gallon factory tank.. Could it be the fuel tank sending unit not dropping down past half a tank? and also i have already replaced the fule pump with a whole new assembely three times and it has'nt not fixed the problem....

Your help will be very much appreciated.. thank you for your time.

Default RE: Gas tank

i do not think that it is the fuel sending unit,,, all that does is to let you know how much fuel is in the tank...it could be totally not working and would not affect if car runs or dies as long as you know that you got fuel in tank.......

Now these fuel pumps that you have replaced are they Honda pumps??????? are you replacing just the motor or the whole assembly ..

also you might want to remove the fuel pump and look inside the tank to make sure some of the baffle did not come apart

Default RE: Gas tank

When the fuel gauge reads 1/2 tank the guage drops to empty or the car actually runs out of gas?
2 different problems, you might want to clarify the actual problem.
