welcome to HAF..... it sounds like a great deal.
As for the pgm-fi light .. you need to read the code and post it here..........look under the driver's seat. there is a little window with a red indicator lite. put the key on and count the # of blinks.....there is a slight pause between 1 code and another or repeating the same code,, .. if after the pause it repeats the same # of blinks than you got only 1 code
.. if it has different # of blinks you got different codes..
example.......1 blink pause.... 1 blink pause 1 blink .........it is only code # 1
1 blink pause,, 3 blinks,, pause, 1 blink pause , 3 blinks.. than you got 2 codes .. 1 and 3 ..........you get the idea ..
So read them and post them here
Also please iput year and model of your car on your signature so it will make it easier for members who are trying to help..
And again WELCOME to HAF

RE: Good deal ?
if I had to guess as to what is wrong based upon what you are saying, I would say EGR problems (one of the few codes that will still allow the engine to run good). Honda's are notorious for EGR problems- espcially when they have THAT MANY MILES on them.
If it was a fuel delivery/injection problem the car would not run well
if it was a crank position sensor, car would be in limp home mode (revs limited)
if it was a misfire problem, car would run like crap.
I cannot think of any codes other than EGR/EVAP that will allow the car to run well with the chk engine (PGM-FI) light on.

RE: Good deal ?
I just wish I could find that car for $200.00... I paid $700.00 for an 81 civic station wagon with a bad clutch and that was under book price... I've since then had 3 people stop by my house or walk up to me and ask if I'd sell them the car *L*
