Default Grinding Noise and Dashboard Dies

2001 Honda Accord

Car sometimes does not accelerate and makes a grinding sound, when you try to accelerate. This problem occurs randomly, or at least I have not been able to figure out what makes it do this, or not do it.

Also, totally separate of the grinding, the dashboard and radio lose power briefly while driving, with no apparent affect to the car.

Please Help! I'm no car mechanic so all and any advice is appreciated.

Noises are tough to diagnose over the web. Is your check engine light on, or does your D4 light flash? You may want to stop by a parts store and have them scan for codes.

For the power loss, do you have a volt meter? Are you comfortable using it to test for power or ground on an electrical circuit?

Another thought, is your radio the factory radio or aftermarket?

I would phone AAA and join today. Upgrade benefits by one notch to get the 3 free 100 mile towing member annual benefit (vs. 7 miles each). Other benefits, too.

Specifically ask them how you would get service if needed before your membership card arrives in mail. American Automobile Association.

Best wishes.
