Default Guinea pig? Higher assistance requests

Good morning! We have a brand new 2018 Accord Sport 1.5T, and had the unfortunate experience of a bus losing a u-joint on the interstate and us running over it. It tore open the transmission and damaged numerous frame pieces. Supposedly to get the front subframe replaced, they will just about have to disassemble the entire front end. My questions are: 1.With the car being so new, most dealerships have barely worked on these only to perform oil changes, so what resources are available to them if they get stumped during the repairs? Can they request assistance from Honda, like the factory? 2. Also, the transmission isn’t even available yet so they’re not sure how long it might be before they can even get one, so what happens with that?
Seeing as how there is a police report and there is no question as to what vehicle the parts came from, I’d prefer that their insurance just replace our car, but... we’ll see. So in the meantime I come to get answers.

Tough situation; if the car was a little older it would probably be totaled, but yikes, with it's age I'd be surprised. That said, if I was in your shoes I would put the screws to the bus company's insurance company to simply replace the car.

Agreed. Maybe talk to the dealer and have them definitely have them look EVERYTHING over real good. You might be able to get the dealer to price it up high enough for replacement.
Have the bus companies insurance provide you with a loaner car, since the trans isn't in stock, and you're without a car. Everyone knows who is at fault.
This is 1 of those deals where the insurance company will try to drag their feet, so you gotta stay on their butt.
