my step son and i have been Eight hours already feebly attempting to install both half axles on a '98 Accord that has never been touched in this area, hence Every bolt/nut is tighter than bark on a tree. this car has a Wish Bone on the lower control with a Three inch gap and the "hubs" on the axles are 3.75",so they wont slide through, that would be to easy, We can not for the life of us get the bolt out of the Wish Bone attaching it to the control arm. Do we need a Spring Compressor? I tried heat and the result is i now have ordered the rubber bushings cuz the one is sort of melted,phue, just love the smell of burnt rubber.. but we lubed, tapped,and BEAT this thing and it will not budge. so have mercy on us and please enlighten us. i thank you in advance for your time and wisdom.

 

like you reside in snow country .. we are talking about the lower bolt correct ??
I use to live in Wisc and those bolts froze real bad.. I had a crap load of these ..
anyho,, once you remove the nut . get a 17 mm socket with a pry bar , heat up the bolt with a torch and gently go back and forth on the bolt,, make sure to watch at the other side of the bolt where the threads are to make sure that the complete bolt is spinning and not just 1/2 of it and twisting off ..

 

thanks for your reply, i think i'll have to cut the pig out of there. the sleeve inside the bushing appears to be bonded to the bolt, you can see it turn inside the rubber. so i guess it's off to the store for replacment bolts. Q? do i need a spring compressor?
