Default Help with 2019 Ridgeline

New user and having difficulty finding how/where to ask a question.
have a 2019 Honda ridgeline with a emission problem

Primary]: DIAG1 :Found leak at fuel filler neck, the inner valve is broken and no longer sealing. P0456 P0456 small evap leak C/S: EMISSIONS LIGHT ON. CUSTOMER HAD ISSUE ADDRESSED AT HONDA DEALERSHIP IN ARIZONA FOUND THEY FOUND EVAP SYSTEM LARGE LEAK CODE.CLEARED THE CODE AND PERFORM EVAP FUNCTION TEST AND IT PASSED

so Two different dealerships and two different opinions, dealer two says about a grand to fix. I can stick my finger and move this flapper valve and seems solid, no gas smell. Looking for a different answer, thanks Dennis

What code(s) you are getting? They start with the letter P and have four numbers, like P1234.

The descriptions above indicate an evap leak. The leak can be anywhere in the evap system. It could be a bad seal or possibly an evap valve that is not closing properly.

Any chance you have a scanner that can read live data? Better yet, does it have some troubleshooting functionality where you can use the scanner to test the EVAP system?

According to diagnosis above code says P0456, on repair estimate they have p455&456( assuming left out zero). No I don’t have a scanner. On repair receipt the two problems this causes is emission warning is always on and might take longer to fuel up. Sure doesn’t seem like a 1000$ problem

The fix for the issue could be relatively inexpensive, or it could well run well over $1,000; it all depends upon how easy it is to find the leak, where it is, and what parts need to be replaced. Until it is professionally diagnosed, there really is no way to know what it will cost to fix.

That’s the rub, two professional opinions from two Honda dealerships. That’s why/how I found this forum , hoping someone else had this same problem

I think you're missing the point; I had a similar problem on my Accord and the parts and labor to fix it was over $1,400, I also had a similar issue on my TL and the parts and labor were under $100. Unless and until you can find what is leaking, there is no way anybody can tell you what it will cost.

Huh Wasn’t asking anyone about a cost, did say I didn’t that it was a 1000 $ problem ( to me anyway ). not sure what point you think I’m missing.

DTC P0456:Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System Very Small Leak Detected

There was a fuel pump safety recall, you may be able to get Honda to cover the inspection by doing the recall inspection.

The fuel tank is part of the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System.

Also, certain major components should be covered under the Federal Emission Warranty since your vehicle is only a few years old.

Don't get charged and pay for something that may be covered under the Federal Emission Warranty.
