EVAP Error problem
Hello i have a 1997 V6 honda accord and i am having trouble with the getting the check engine light off, i have had it scanned multiple times and it comes up with the EVAP Error which has to do with the fuel system airflow or something like that, whay im wondering is if anyone else has had this problem and can hopefully give me some info on how to fix this problem. thank you.

Well, there's 2 different codes for the EVAP system. Either one means that it's respective part of the fuel evaporative emmission system isn't airtight like it should be.
P1456 = EVAP leak - fuel tank system (includes a bad gas cap)
P1457 = EVAP leak - control canister system
These can also be triggered by bad solenoid valves (common) or leaking vacuum hoses (easy to check) or problems in the sensors that measure this system.
Start with which code you got.

its the p1456 code, i have put a new honda gas cap on and that didnt clear the code, im in the process of buying this car from a local dealer and his mechanic cant seem to fix it, so im just doing some looking around to see if i can find some possible causes of this headache, anymore causes you can think of that goes along with that code?

When I had a P1457 (1998 Accord) it was the canister vent-shut valve - corroded & didn't even click when I applied 12v with jumper wires.
The tank system has some strange tubes & fittings alongside the fuel filler pipe. Check for cracks or disconnected stuff.
Then there's leaky fittings on top of the tank, like where the fuelpump or the gauge sender bolt in.
Look for a post in the DIY section about on-line manuals. Grab the one for your car. The Helm book for that 1998 had about 25 pages of testing for those EVAP codes.
