OBD1 did not have a standard, so reading engine codes was specific for each auto maker. A Honda scanner would easily cost over $1000.
Get a thin paperclip and follow the instructions that I posted in my earlier post to get the codes. You will get the same information for about a penny in cost and takes about 5-10 minutes to do.

Honda plugs are NGK. Just 'cause they're NGK, they still might be real old...?
If your grounds are shaky, you can check the wires for corrosion & clean / tighten the wires where they fasten at both ends.
