Brand new to the forum and need some help I have a 98 ex wife went to the store came out and the normally reliable accord wouldnt start, you get a couple of clicks when you turn the key but nothing else all other electrical systems seem to be funtioning normally, it just clicks when you turn the key, pretty sure its not the battery, the lights dont dim when I turn the key, and ideas would be greatly appreciated.

hard to tell i think its just one though just tried it again a few minutes ago, also noticed that the light for the alrm next to the lock on the drivers door wasnt coming on, the guy that towed it thinks something is wrong with the factory alarm.

 

is it the original battery? it may be time for a new one...load test the charging system to see where the fault lies......

 

No the battery is relatively new

 

load test the charging system. Do it quick as a bad alt will destroy a new battery in no time and you will have to replace it again....

 

I am not getting any signs that its the charging sytem the lights are bright etc....even when I attempt to start the car the lights dont dim, per the owners manual this indicates it is not the charging system, any other ideas? anyone would love to figure this out I am really thinking somethign has run amuck with the immobolizer sytem any ideas there?

 

turned out to be the starter, is that normal for a starter to just go out with no warning? In any event put a new one in and started right up

 

yes it can happen like that but usually there is some warning such as the car turns over slower than before....or you bang the starter with a hammer and it then starts........
