Here's the problem...I have a 2005 Accord EX (4cyc)...everytime time I have the redefroster on the radio goes static. I get horrible reception (read: no reception) until I disable it. Anyone else encounter this problem? The dealer told me there's nothing they can do.

Thoughts?

 

is your antenna built in to the rear windsheild? If so make sure that everything is intact, (the small lines that is) no breaks in them, you could try an external antenna too...

one other common culprit of radio issues is a bad engine ground.... I doubt it applies here but it is possible.... you could try installing a second ground strap on your motor

 

I've seen a few 03, 04 coupes do that. There's a control box behind the left c-pillar trim the defrost and antenae runs through. That's been teh problem.

 

if that's the case then pulling that trim down and wrapping some sort of insulation around the antenna to protect it from the defrost should help.... perhaps even just wrapping it in some shrink wrap sheilding or electricians tape

 

Needs a new control box, if that's the problem.
