I recently bought a 94 Honda Accord I also already own a 94 Honda Accord LOL. Anyway these are the problems I'm having and wondering if anyone can help I have a code for TPS and iacv on the engine codes with a check engine light on. I have what looks like oil on the spark plugs. Oil and car smell like gas. I drained coolant and it had a glittery substance I guess a stop leak inside. The iacv looks like someone put JB weld on top and the TPS looks brand new. Car starts and runs but starts bogging down and doesn't want to go past one and a half RPMs. What diagnostics can I do at home without equipment for a compression test and no multimeter? Any help is greatly appreciated.

 

Can we assume it is a four cyl.

Without tools about the only thing I can suggest is checking the coolant level, remove and clean the IAC. Also inspect the wire colors on the MAP, WAG that the MAP and TPS sensor plugs got mixed up.....I think the MAP and TPS can get "switched". Sorry I don't do tis as much as I use to

 

Yes 4 cylinder I am going to go get a multimeter do you think the cheap one from like harbor freight would be a good enough? I did open the throttle and it looks clean and I did check that map and TPS or connected correctly and they were. The coolant was very low and full of glitter I drained it flush the radiator with some water and the coolant tank and added movement then I was trying to bleed the system and there was a lot of air honestly more than I've ever seen and the heater was not getting hot. Fans did come on twice but then when I opened bleeder screw a bunch of coolant spilled from the radiator cap. The car was parked on downhill so I'm thinking reverse the car so it can be on an incline and bleed again.

 

I am more worried about the color of the wires. The MAP can be switched. So what are the colors of the three wires on the connector that is plugged into the MAP?

 

Yes I already looked up the wires and made sure the connections were right but ill look again and let you know
