Help my 1995 accord doesn't want to shut off
My 1995 accord doesn't like to **** off sometimes. I am very mechanically inclined and have checked several things. After the car has been sitting for a couple hours I go reconnect the battery and take the key to the on position everything comes on including the fuel pump and the dash. I shut it off and sometimes it will shut everything back off but most of the time it won't everything will stay on! I pull the ignition switch connector on the fuse panel and everything still stays on. I disconnected the battery and pulled the main relay underneath the dash. I recon excited the battery and everything is still running as if the key was in the on position? That's with the key switch connector disconnected and the main relay disconnected. I am baffled it's as if a relay gets stuck in a closed position but for the life of me I can't figure it out I tried disconnecting all the relays I know of. Please Help me.
Thanks for the reply. I have tested the ignition switch and it passes a continuity test every time. At the connector. The problem still occurs even if I disconnect the key switch assembly. Any other ideas? I would appreciate it!!
When the electrical portion of the ignition switch fails it is often an intermittent problem. Have you disconnected the switch in the steering column when it is doing it to see if it shuts down? They are a very common failure in older cars or cars where people turn them on and off a lot. You need to disconnect the switch in the steering column and not at the fuse panel.
The only other thing that comes to find is, does the car have a remote starter or a security system. There may be exposed wires that are making intermittent contact.

If the engine keeps running, blk/yel wire from IG1 must be remaining hot w/ key in OFF position. You need a wiring diagram to work with. Check Online Manuals post in DIY forum for a download manual.
