HELP PLEASE! Which motors will fit my 93 Accord LX without changing computers, etc?
I have a 93 accord LX which has a blown motor - well it's something badly wrong, broke the camshaft, probably bent the valves and who knows what all. Anyway, put another camshaft in and it wouldn't do a thing, so my next step is a motor. I can put the same F22A1 in it that came out, but I might not be able to find one right away - and I'm working on a very limited budget as well - so it would help if someone who knows could tell me what all will fit in it (and what kind of cars they are in originally) without having to change the computer or the intake or something else. I know that's a lot but hopefully someone can help. Thanks in advance!

Make some calls... find a good used F22A1!
Any F22A1 from a '90-93 Accord should work. I just replaced my engine on my 93 Accord LX Sedan @ 219,000 (bad valves...) with a used one which my mechanic found for $750 (included delivery and pick up of core), with 117,000 miles on it (which had a new cam and head gasket installed!). The engine swap took less than a day and including new fluids, A/C recharge (their mistake) and belts, set me back a total of $1,250.
Only problem with the swap was the mechanic put a (vacuum line) plug on my EGR valve, instead of on one of the three lines on the Fuel Injection assembly, which lead to an irratic idle and the CEL (Check Engine Light) which kept coming on once the engine came to normal operating temperature. I rerouted the vacuum lines myself, which took all of 15 minutes (including research time) and the CEL went off immediately. Idle is normal now.
All in all, with 3k miles on the replacement engine, I couldn't be happier, as this was a less costly alternative than a valve job ($1,400+) on a 200k+ gas engine. Even with the vacuum lines misrouted, I was still pulling 30mpg on the highway. Engine is much peppier and feels like it is running much easier (more efficient) than before the swap, plus I'm not losing a quart of oil every 200 miles!
Understand that buying a used engine is certainly a "roll of the dice." However, since its a Honda engine, the odds are in your favor.
Best of luck to you!
