Default Hesitating 94 LX Coupe

1994 Accord LX Coupe / 178K / Maintained regularly / Issue: Especially when cold upon acceleration, engine hesitates or "putt putts" as I like to say. The tach needle will fluctuate as the engine is doing this. Once I put the pedal to the floor and open engine up, problem resolves itself. This never occurs at idle and the plugs and wires were changed withing the last year.

Gas mileage is around 300 miles per tank (100% city driving). Never any major problems. Timing belt changed at 90K.

Your thoughts?

When was the last tune up? You say it was/is taken care of but I have to ask.

You are about due for another tb/balance shaft - wp - replacement.

Well...I replaced plugs and plug wires myself one year ago. Other than those two things, no official tune up. If I do one myself, what's on the laundry list?

Thanks,
Jon M.

Cap and rotor are the ones I'd start with.

Forgot to ask, is the CEL on?

It should at least light up for ~2 seconds when you turn the key to "on".
