Default High Idle way high

Hello again fellow Accord owners, now that I have fixed my clutch problem I would like to see if you can help me out again. Again I have a 89 Accord LX with the carb, I checked all the hoses no cracks, so nothing visual except for a hose that is plugged I ve seen that done to other cars but have no idea why they do that, also the idle control valve was disconnected and there is a power wire going to it, I wanna get it on the road but it will go fine for a couple of miles iddling high which I can live with this, but after that, If I dont rev it up it will stall so I have to keep it in gear with the ebrake so it wont roll and slightly pressing the gas, what a nightmare I ordered a chiltons manual but im still waiting I tought it might help too. I appreciate any feedback.

Once again Thank you

89 Accord LX
5 Speed Manual
Car Engine A20A1 I believe!!

Idle control valve unplugged? The solenoid on the back passenger side of the carb?
Plug it back in, you should hear it click when the key turns on, if not replace the solenoid. It is just a little plunger that pulls back when energized.
From your description it sounds like the choke is holding idle up until it warms up, then there is no idle?
The vacum hose that is plugged ..is it on the drive or passenger side of the carb?
[hose# ??]

The problem with carbs is....you are going to need someone that worked on Hondas 30 years ago and has lots of grey hairs to prove it.

My friend Hondadude taught me almost everything I know about my 3rd gen's - Thank you sir!

I'm only "half grey" (ok, 3/4) but learned from those that are - that is meant with the highest respect.

PS-remember I still have one of these in the driveway. The others are LXi's = FI. So, let us know the answer to the question and we can go from there.......we like to have a little fun every now and then, please don't take any of this the wrong way.

Yes its the solenoid it seems like there is nothing to plug in to looks like the plugs were cut off for some reason, I will have to replace the solenoid, where does the go to? I was looking for the other plug but I did not see anything.
The hose that is plugged its about a 3/8 and its at driver side.

On the idle here is a quick walk trough I start up the car it idles around 3000 rpms I use to just tap the gas and it would drop until warm and it would be fine for a few blocks, then at stops engine would just stall, therefor I had to keep it it gear when come to a stop using the ebrake and tapping at gas pedal so it can stay on, Im not driving it no more I want to figure this out hopefully soon.

Here is the pic of the plugged hose there is also that free connector it might go there but why was it plugged? I just replaced that solenoid with a new one, and also noticed that I think its part of the choke, its right next to that idle air solenoid, it has a black cover with a yellow green wire, I plugged that back in too, but now rpms went even higher now reads 4000 slowly dropping then it dies...

Does the battery/charging light happen to be on?

The unplugged vac port is the Air Vent Cut Off.

Follow the "plugged" hose back to the connection, happen to be a little white plastic piece there with a number on it?

No there is no battery charging light on, and for the id number it does not have it anymore I know that hose is between hose #'s 14 and 17. And my buddy came clean he just told me while I was at work he decided to tackle the pcv replacement since I already had bought it but have not had a chance to replace, anyway he says sorry about that pcv! apparently he tried to remove the u shape hose that houses the valve but it broke I looked at it and it would of happen to me too it was dry rotted, so now the part of the pcv still stuck in the manifold housing, could that caused the car to stay on and then slowly die, and my solenoid and choke parts are right? (replaced solenoid)

Is the hose just hanging? Plug the "intake" side of the hose to be sure. You'll need to get that fixed, go to Honda and order a new one (11856-PH2-000, double check me but I think that is the one for my 89 LX). Easy to replace, at least to me since I think I have replaced this on every 3rd gen I've ever owned....just be careful as the other end goes directly into the oil pan, so that hard rubber ending up in the oil pan is never a good idea.
