hiway speed rpm

Default hiway speed rpm

what should my 91 se be running at for hiway speed rpm? It sits at 3 thou at 1ookms/per hour. i have owned the car for only a few weeks and when i bought it i thought at hiway speed it ran at more like 21 or 22 hundred. is 3 though normal or could i have a problem...

60mph = more or less 100kmph and mine sticks around 3k rpm..
sounds alright

this varies on different cars depending on the final gear ratio (something like that i heard)

mine runs 2400 at 60 mph. your speedo or tach could be off, mine jumps around sometimes when its really cold out for the first few miles.

you sure you didn't swap in a hseries trans? lol.

Sounds about right for the 4 speed auto.

Cocker, you have a 5spd, 5th gear drops the rpms a ton, im at about 2200 at 60 mph in my car.

so the 4th gen autos have lower final gear than the 5spd? I guess u learn somthin new every day, i was just kind of comparing to 2 same gen camrys i had, one with 5spd, one auto, and the auto had higher final gear

Yep, the 4th gear in the AT and MT are very similar, about equal actually, the AT just doesn't have a 5th OD gear and loves to waste gas.
