Default Honda Accord 1995 VTec 4-Cyl AT Oil Leak Help

Hi,

I am hoping someone could help me pinpoint the location or what to check to see where an oil leak is coming from in my 1995 Honda Accord Vtec AT. I have a few pictures attached that shows where it is pooling. But I have not been able to isolate the origin.

When it is parked, the pooling is slow (maybe 1drip/few hours). But when the engine is idling, the oil drips once every 10-15 seconds.

Any suggestions is appreciated.

Thanks,

Tri

Take a look under the distributor, the external o-ring is a common leakage area after so many years.

Also check the vtec solenoid - back pass side of the cyl head.

Just note there are two o-ring gaskets for these. Suggest that since you are there, replace both. The top one is easy, the lower one where it seals to the head is a bit of a pain to get to - we all have different stories on how we do/did the lower.

Update: So finally found some time today to replace the gaskets on the vtec solenoid. Did it with a c-shaped wrench without removing the coolant lines (thank goodness).
Anyhow, seems like there is still a minor leak, but no more drips per 10-15secs. Seeing several drops in different locations now; maybe repairing the main leak from the vtec solenoid now the oil has found other locations to exit. Well, got a cardboard under the car to see where the minor leaks are dripping from.

Sometimes a clogged PCV valve will allow the crankcase pressure to get higher, causing oil to leak out a few places. Check/clean your PCV valve and/or replace it if it's questionable.

Update: Thanks JimBlake...I decided to replace the PCV valve and that reduced the oil leak significantly. I did an engine wash to get a clean slate to see any more oil. I am now only seeing maybe 1 drop per day for a week now. At this point, I think there's not really much more benefit to try to figure out where that is coming from.
Anyhow, I want to thank you guys for the feedback.

Oil pans tend to leak w/ age. Bolts get loose and gasket get's hard.

good luck
