Honda Accord failing to start
Hi
Got a great honda accord 1991 cb7 model, 2.2 petrol injection. Really good condition, low mileage. Got a problem - hope someone can help me. Generally when the weather is hot, very intermittant, after using the car, and stopping it briefly, it wont start.Turns over ok, but doesnt start.Convinced this is a fuel problem, the trouble is it is difficult to pin down, as it only lasts for 5 to 10 minutes and then it starts and runs ok. Only happens about once or twice a week, only in hot weather!
I dont really know for sure, but taking the petrol cap off, and releasing the pressure which is sometimes in the tank generally seems to cure it. On another occasion releasing the of the input side of the fuel filter, and turningthe engine overmay have cured it! I know a bit about cars, and seems to me to be a vapour lock or something, but dont know where to start. Hopefully it is a well known honda problem.
Appreciate any help
Andy

RE: Honda Accord failing to start
When no-start occurs listen carefully for the fuel pump to engage for 2-3 secs when keyswitch is turned to ON position. It should run for 2-3 secs and cut off. If nothing, main fuel relay is likely intermittent (very common). This problem is frequently associated w/ warm temps and elevated temps in cabin.
If you confirm no fuel pump action, check whether power is appearing at pump electrical connector or not. If not, then main fuel relay is confirmed. If you have power at the connector for 2-3 secs, the fuel pump is sticking intermittently.
good luck
