honda accord tranny fluid

Default honda accord tranny fluid

my sis has a 2003 honda accord lx, auto tranny, trying to ck tranny fluid n she not sure where dipstick is. she was also told that her car may use gear oil in tranny. is gear oil EVER used in any tranny.

Is this a 4 or 6 cylinder?

An automatic should only use genuine Honda automatic transmission fluid, not gear oil. DW-1 is Honda's latest automatic transmission fluid.

If your sister's car is a 4 cylinder automatic, the following is related to a 4 cylinder. See attached pic. for instructions from owner's manual. Check it at normal operation temperature (e.g. car has been driven awhile) with the car shut off, with car on level ground. For accurate results, wait about 60 seconds (but no longer than 90 seconds) before pulling the dipstick and checking the fluid level.

If you need to top off the oil, use a long funnel to add through the dipstick hole. I like to use the Blitz Super Funnel, as it is long enough and doesn't require an additional tube to reach. Walmart has the Blitz Super Funnel at reasonable prices.
