Default Honda A/C Gurus needed!

Ok guys ... 2003 Accord EX, A/C blower isn't working. HVAC controls light up and I can hear the vents moving when I switch settings. Compressor does not engage. The blower engages for like a second when ignition switch is in II position. Ran the self-diagnostic and it resulted in "N" - circuit problem (duh).

hot-wired blower, it works great ... check
tried new resistor, not the problem ... check
under dash fuses ... check
relays and fuses in under hood fuse box ... check

I don't know what else to check. Ideas?

Thanks!

Here are the items to check/test:

1. #21 fuse (40A) in under-hood fuse box
2. #30 fuse (7.5A) in the under-dash fuse box
3. On the blower motor, unplug the electrical connector. Check for 12V to ground on the wht/blu wire with the key in the II position.

4. Also on the blower motor connector, you can jump the blu/blk wire to ground (I'm not too sure the best way to do this). Plug in the electrical connector. Turn the key to the II position. See if the blower motor runs.

Power transistor is usual culprit. Since blower works when hot wired, the power transistor is likely. A shop manual would be helpful to guide you in replacement.

Check resistance on power transistor terminals (disconnected from harness) 3-4 for 4-dr and 1-2 for two door. 3-4 are opposite side of connector tab and 1-2 are same side as connector tab. Resistance should be 1.4-1.5 K-ohms. If not wthin spec replace the transistor module. It's on pax side and glove box may need to be removed for access. Manual does not say.

I had power transistor go out on acura mdx and it was caused by blockage of inlet air filter. You might check your cabin air filter and make sure it's reasonably clean.

good luck

What are the readings at the connector at the motor? Is this a 2 or 4 door model?

EDIT: I see TX responded while I was typing

Some people use transistor/resistor interchangeably. I swapped out the transistor/resistor with a brand new one at a parts store and blower still did not work. So it has to be something else, right?

Check for 12V on the blu/wht wire at the blower motor like I mentioned before using a volt meter. There should be power with the key in the II position.

I might consider returning the new aftermarket blower resistor and getting one from the Honda dealership. Aftermarket parts can be bad out of the box.

the blower transistors are also different for 2 and 4 door models.
