Honda Fluids Necessary?

Moved post to a new thread.
Honda ATF is agreed by consensus to be preferred over other fluids.
I have not heard any strong opinions suggesting Honda brake fluid or coolant provides better service or protection than aftermarket products.
good luck

I'm with TX.
Honda auto trans fluid. Honda or Honda/Acura approved PS fluid.
I did go back with Honda "Blue" anti-freeze on the Pilot when I did the timing belt job only because I wasn't in the mood to flush the system - and I'm not sure how the "blue" would take to regular green type, mixing of the two.

Auto trans, yes get the Honda fluid to be sure. Does the kind that says it's OK work, perhaps. Other fluids you can trust the labels. I read that in the '90's when Chrysler Corp. was having lots of issues with their autos, people would have the fluid changed early just to make sure. It used a unique fluid. The wrong kind would get put in, and problems would happen because of it. That said, it was a problematic transmission early on. Dextron with any number after it will not work. Also don't put any additives in it.

X2 on all above. I personally just spent $2400.00 on a rebuilt transmission. A extra $100 on fluid is easily justified here. However I have a slight power steering leak, I added some lucas power steering fluid stabilizer and it has quit so far. For coolant I have a 96 so regular green 50/50 works here, welcome to the site, enjoy your stay.

Thanks to all you feedback. I have a friend who is a very seasoned qualified mechanic, who owns and has owned several Accords and Civics. He has also worked on many and has access to data through Moog. His opinion I to stick with Honda for tranny, power steering and coolant. Break fluid is brake fluid as long as it is Dot 3. It is worth spending the small extra for the coolant. The transmission and power steering fluid are priced similarly to generic brands.
