I've noticed my Maintenance Required light is flashing about 12 seconds after turning the key on. Either a) its always done it w/o me noticing; or b) it recently started for unknown reasons. My OBDII reader shows me zip/zero/nada.

If this is ABnormal do you know what it could mean?
Could it be a reminder to change the oil or similar andI justneed toreset it?
Afriend whos a manager atAdvance Auto says it could be that I rolled over 40,000 miles, so its reminding me to tune-up or similar.

yea mine does that when its time to get an oil change, or have one of those 25K mile tune ups or whatever.

 

It's supposed toflash for 10 or 20 seconds when you're getting close to your maintenance interval (by miles). Then when you actually reach the miles, it'll stay on solid.

In 2004 your interval might be 10k miles, so maybe at 9500 miles since last reset, it starts blinking? It's in the owner's manual.

 

Look in the owner's manual for directions on how to reset it ..... or search my old posts.

 

thanks guys i figured it out. but honda jipped me a owners manual when i bought the car this spring. they told me over the phone to come in to get one because they always stock extras... bs. i went in at least3 times talking to 3 diff ppl. luckily i found a website that has tons of owners manuals in adobe format, so download i did.
