Default How to replace radiator and add coolant for a 2006 Honda accord?

Hi there,
I have replaced the radiator, fan assembly and the thermostat for my 2006 Honda accord(4 cyl, 4 doors), the next step is to add new coolant. I have got a Honda genius blue coolant. I plan to follow the video direction below. Is that Ok?

One concern is that i don't know what coolant this Honda used before. So the new coolant may not be the same as before, since inside the engine and pipes, there still has some remaining old coolant, will that cause any trouble?

Thanks.

Mike

You should be fine with the Honda coolant. You just need to get the air out of the system, or your car will have strange idle issues.

If you have that type of funnel, any air in the system will escape through the funnel. Just start the engine and allow it to warm to operating temperature (fans turn on), so the thermostat opens and push coolant through the system.

I am doing the coolant replacement today. I replaced the thermostat and follow the video instruction to fill in the new radiator with Honda coolant. However, i found the radiator fan won't turn on even i run the engine (with heater on) for 30 minutes. If i open the A/C fan, the radiator fan will turn on/off. What is the reason? the bad thermostat? it is a new one, so i doubt it.

The two fans will turn on when the coolant temperature reaches around 200F. The outside temperature may be low enough that the radiator is keeping the coolant temperature below that limit. If you have the heat turned to hot, turn off the blower fan inside the car to help warm up the coolant.
