I think that we should create a DIY on how to check CEL codes with pictures/instructions for each generation accord.

I am sick of having to post the same information about how to get the check engine codes.

I can post pics for my 95, so that will take care of the 94/95. The 96/97 are similar. Will other members be willing to send me a picture of the location of the Service connector on their accords?

I think that we would definitely need pics of the 90-93, and a 98-02. 03+ have only an obd2 connection and need a scanner.

Huh?

94/95 have the 2 pin BLUE connector behind the lower edge of the glove box;
96/97 have the OBD2 DLC behind the center console ashtray.

However I'll get to work on this in the morning, because I feel your pain. LOL

 

PA Do you honestly think that it will solve the issue ????the next thing that you will be telling the members is,,,,,,,,go to the DIY section there is a write up on it.......
Do you know how many times i have said that to members with write ups that already exist ??? exmpl.........no start, no spark, no fuel, cannot get out of park, no start just clicks, surging idle ,, etc etc ..Members for the most part are too lazy to go looking or perhaps the search system in this forum is not that easy to navigate,,......

As a matter of facts, there is a post with a link ( HONDA OBD trouble codes) in the DIY section , it does not show too many pictures but it describes hot to access the codes ,,and the specific codes ...

The 96/97 have both an obd2 plug behind the ash tray and a two pin connector under the glove box. At least that is what the ECU pin-out shows.

 

I had a 1998 and I'm pretty sure it did NOT have an SCS connector to short. I looked in the circuits in the Helm book. I think there's 2 pins of the OBD-2 connector that you can short instead, but I don't remember which pins.

 

I believe it's the yellow and the gray/green wire.

Desert Honda should know for sure, PM him...
