Distance reference

 

Horizontal lines are distance.
Vertical lines are supposed to help outline the car's width and/or path into the space.

 

These lines indicate the direction you are heading in reverse. If you are backing into a parking spot with lines, and the lines on your screen are green, you are going in parallel (not necessarily centered) to those lines. If you are not parallel, the lines on your screen will be read.
