I bought a 92 accord DX w/ auto tranny w/ 91k on it. The engine is quiet the valves are quiet. The car seems to run really well. There are no oil leaks or anything that I can tell. The oil is clean. I only got to drive the car in downtown DC so i never got it out and got it up to speed.

The problem is. When the car slows down and kicks down into the last gear there is a noticeable rattle from the front right side. I can't tell exactly where its coming from because it doesnt do it when its idling. if you put the car in nuetral it also does it as you slow down. Everytime i stop the car and get out and listen everything sounds ok. The last time when i parked it in the garage i could here the noise but it sounded a little different. It stayed when the car stopped moving. I got out and listened and couldnt tell where its coming from.. when you are moving and stop it sounds like a mettalic rattle. the last time it sounded like something mettalic in the lower sections of the car.

Any ideas what this could be?

The trans doesnt slip or anything but it also doesnt shift as smoothly as I would think it should.. I am a manaul trans person so automatics all feel like crap to me..

 

make sure there are no loose heat shields.. chk all suspension parts for wear and loosness
