Default i need help with my daily driver

I recently purchased a 1996 Honda Accord. It has a 4 cylinder 2.2 liter, 5-speed. I'm having problems with my transmission (I'm guessing.) When I try to put it into first gear, it doesn't quite go into the gear, when I release the shifter, it kinda springs back. First, Third, and Fifth are like this. But, 2nd, 4th, and Reverse are just fine. When i am able to get it into first gear, it stays in there, no slipping or anything. then when i shift from 2nd to 3rd, i have to shift it reeeaaaalllly slow in order for it to go into 3rd, 5th is the same way. any ideas or if anyone can point me in the right direction would be great. Thanks for looking

I wonder if there is a problem with the cables that go to the **** arm assembly. I am not sure if there is some sort of adjustment that you may be able to do.

You can get a 94 shop manual by going to the common diy thread on top of the gen tech help forum. Just open the online manuals link. That should have instructions on how to do this.
