Default Ice cold 20F engine noise that disappears.

2007 V6 100,000 miles. I bought it new & only drive it.
Problem started about 2 days ago.
Rattling sound at idle. Gets louder if I turn the wheel when first started. As engine warms up the rattle goes away all day.
Noticed some bubbles on the surface of the oil resivoir tank. Suction leak ? Can that cause the rattling sound ?

Would a carefull retightening of all clamps or fittings stop the leak when very cold.

Honda V6 engines are notorius for air leaks on suction inlet fitting of the PS pump. There is an oring that gets stiff and allows air to enter. It will be worse on a cold engine and may stop due to warming. New honda parts oring can be installed DIY in < 20 mins. A 10mm open-end wrench is all that's needed.

Sound is usually described as growling or howling sound. Air bubbles in the PS fluid reservoir are true indicator of air leak.

good luck

Many thanks Texas.
I am going to my Acura dealer for a oil change in a week. Will have them do the O ring also.

I have the screechy belt also. A splash of water on the belt stops the noise instantly. My check about which is a new noise.

Even with the occasional buzzer sound when first turning the key to start. Then turn off. It always starts on the 2nd key twist.

I still like the dependability of the Hondas To get me anywhere & back. Owned Hondas since the shoebox of 1974. Best cheap car EVER MADE !!
