Default Idle Surge on an H-22 Accord

I have a 95 Accord with the h-22 motor swap already done. I bought the car this way and my question involves the infamous idle surge that is common with Hondas.

The car idles normally until about the time that the engine warms up enough for the VTEC to be operational. Then the idle starts to fluctuate between 900-2000 rpms with out myself touching the gas. Another thing that happens, is the check engine light comes on, but only at the time that the VTEC is warmed up.

Any ideas on what could be causing this or how to remedy? When I pulled the engine code, it shot a code about a knock sensor. I don't know if there is a knock sensor on the H-22 that should be, or if I need a different knock sensor?

Any help would be appreciated.

There IS a knock sensor, and you should get that diagnosed/replaced, as it can save your engine if it starts knocking.

However, I dont think thats related to the bad idle, and from what ive seen it could be the idle air control valve, although I am in no way an expert on this, wait for one of the more experienced members to chime in.

i posted this response on another thread but it seem apt here as well. i have had this problem with several accords that i have played with and it is definately the idle air control. once you replace that there will be no more problems
