Default installing an aftermarket temp gauge

i have an aftermarket temp gauge on my car right now but i dont know how to hook it up. the guy that had the car before attempted to hook it up but its just not working. how do you hook it up? i was guessing somewhere around the thermostat but i really dont know. thanks

there should be a temp sensor right around the thermostat (I believe it's towards the back of the car from the thermostat) it's usually only two wire. what year/model do you have?

its a 94 lx. it looks like he has it wired up to the sensor thing that hooks into the thermostat. i think its hooked up wrong.

is it either backwards by chance? check with a voltage meter and make sure it's even giving off a reading....

Electrical or thermal? If is thermal, go to the top hose where it goes to the engine. Go to this link temp_gauge and you will see a drawing I made for you. I done this 4 times with no leaks at all. When bending the probe into the water outlet/hose pipe, cut a little of the spring (dont cut the copper; be very careful) and insert only the thin copper line. Be careful when bending this. Let me know if you like my idea.
