Installing O2 sensor in 98 Honda Accord EX 2.3
I'm replacing an O2 sensor, but not sure if my engine is ULEV or not? The item for sale is O2 Sensor Front non-ULEV.
Thanks,

Do you know where to find the engine serial# stamping?
On the block, mid-elevation, right alongside the split between engine & transmission.
First line will say F23A1 or F23A4. Second line is the block serial #.
F23A1 = VTEC non-ULEV
F23A4 is the ULEV engine.
(F23A5 is the non-VTEC engine from an Accord DX)

Strange, 'cause JDM engines don't have the final number. If the engine has been swapped, then we don't have much more to go on.
Go to www.ahm-ownerlink.com (Honda owner's link) & register with the car's VIN. That should tell you whether it's originally a ULEV car. Not sure how much that'll help if the engine's swapped.

Generally, there's at least 2 ways to swap engines in a ULEV car. If you bought the car like that, you might not know which way it was done.
1 way...
Keep the ULEV computer, because the ULEV car has a very different wiring harness. Swap all your ULEV sensors over to the new engine. Use your original exhaust manifold because that's different. Basically, you're turning your new enigne into a ULEV engine.
Other way...
Use the non-ULEV computer, and make a lot of wiring changes in the car. Or harvest the donor car for big pieces of it's wiring harness. For example, the computer pin-out is different, so the ULEV oxygen sensor plugs into completely different pins on the computer. ULEV O2 sensor is also powered from a different fuse block. Result is you've turned it into a non-ULEV car.
