Default installing vtc actuator 2014 Accord Earth Dreams

To do the service without removing the cam. How do you hold the cam while tightening the bolt without the areas that hold a wrench like other 2.4 Honda engines. A side note. No filter on the chain Tensioner.

All my web searches don't answer the question.. I considered using the old chain to hold it but worry it would lock the vtc while torquing the bolt.

Does this video show you what you need for this job?

The earth dreams motor is years newer and has no place for a wrench like the video shows on this cam, It is circular in that area and the vtc actuator is on the firewall side meaning the intake and exhaust sides of the head are reversed from the earlier motor. I was wondering if a strap wrench would hold the cam from moving while torqueing the VTC. I got the VTC off with an impact.

I didn't realize that the intake didn't have a square section for a wrench.

I can think of two options once you get the timing chain on and in time with the tensioner engaged. Hold the crank with a socket and wedge it to the ground to prevent the engine from moving.

Saw this on an old ericthecarguy video to remove the crank pulley bolt, where he pulled a spark plug on a cylinder where the piston was down. Then he pushed a rope into the cylinder to fill it up. Then he turned the engine by hand to have the rope stop the piston and hold the engine.

How does honda want you to hold the intake cam when you remove it from the engine? I'd imagine you'd have the same problem unless there is a hex on the other end?

I tried wire tying the old timing chain to the VTC making the extra into a handle. It worked. VTC was still unlocked when torqued to 83 Foot pounds then locked when I turned the VTC.

The cam does have a place for a wrench. It is hidden by the fuel pump bracket recently I found out,. I used a wrench on the VTC actuator bolt to line up the chain. Because of that I would like to recheck the VTC actuator bolt torque but with it now locked would that cause an issue.
