Default Intermittent Stall 99 accord EX

I have a 99 accord EX V6, The engine stalls, seems to be on warm up, sometimes in gear at a stop and sometimes just sitting in park. Never sure when, or if, it will stall. I checked to see if the ignition switch recall was done and it was. No Codes. Would this be a failing IACV?? Any thoughts appreciated.

When the car stalls, do the lights on the instrument cluster come on like when you initially turn the key on?

Is the check engine light on when you are driving? If so, then stop by an autozone and have them scan the code(s) for you. Post the code number on here. The code will be P with 4 numbers, like P1234.

Can you get the car to stall by shaking the key when the car is running?

Default yes...

The engine will stall by shaking the ignition switch... so the recall replacement must be failing??

When you first turn the key to the II position before you start the car, the check engine light turns on for about two seconds then turns off. There are also some clicks that come from behind the dash.

Does the car do that same procedure right after it stalls?

Also, when was the last time you did a tune up (spark plugs, air filter, distributor cap/rotor, etc...?

If I stall it with the key it lights the cluster same as start. I could not hear if the clicks were there when it stalled at a traffic light. No, I have not owned this car very long and a cap, rotor, plugs, wires etc. are on the list this week end.

So you can get it to stall by shaking the key?

Not always easy, but if jiggle it for a while it will stall.

The ignition switch recall just replaced the switch with the same kind, not re-designed. So the new one can fail too...
