Default 00 Accord 4cyl stall when clutch depressed

Has anyone had this symptom. 2000 Accord 4 banger 5 speed manual trans. The engine stalls when depressing the clutch. Like when coming to a stop light or even when just sitting with the trans in neutral. I just replaced the T/O bearing with no change. Any suggestions?

Just a long shot, but easy for you to check. Have someone in the driver's seat while you look at the engine.

Idling in neutral, clutch engaged (pedal up). Look carefully at the position of the crankshaft pulley.

Disengage the clutch (press down the pedal). Watch carefully for the crankshaft pulley to move out away from the engine.

Worn, sloppy thrust bearing on the crank will allow the crankshaft itself to be pushed out by the force of the clutch throw-out bearing. If it moves far enough, it's trouble.

I hope that's not it, because it probably means rebuilding the bottom end...

how did you replace the throwout bearing?

if the crankshaft was moving you'd hear the flywheel grinding on the engine block or worse noises in my opinion.

so everytime you depress the clutch pedal the engine stalls? any other symptoms? what if you slowly depress the pedal?
