Default Key Lock/unlock not working

I searched this forum and used the main search before asking this as I was sure it has come up before. Nothing returned for the words "key" or "fob". Sorry if it is a common topic. I have an 04 car with the key (not sure if all do) that has the unlock, lock, trunk etc.. on it. It stopped working and before I broke it open to replace a battery I just wanted to make sure I could do that or will that ruin it? Do these need to be replaced all together or can you just open it and change a battery?

(incorrectly posted in DIY thread first)

You can just replace the battery, it is shown in the owner's manual. See attached pic. for instructions.

Great information, thank you. For someone that doesnt have an owners manual, that is awesome that you post the actual pages from it or a similar source.

Pretty sure you can go to Honda's owner link, put in your car info, and register. From there you can donwload the owners manual for your car..
