Default Knock in Front End - Post II - UPDATE!

i've read the other knock post, but how do you know if your struts are going bad? mine exhibits the same behavior as the other poster...a harsh grinding/knocking noise when going over bumps or making a turn @ a decent speed.

my car is a 95 accord w/ ~120K btw.

If it's the struts going bad that's causing the noise usually your car will feel really "squishy" when turning or going over bumps.... also, if they are hydrualic shocks then you can inspect around the outside of them for fluid that's leaking out of them

Carefully check each front coil spring for breakage - usually near the the bottom of the spring.

Pardon me if this has already been brought up... In the Do-It-Yourself section, there is a post called "Squeaks over bumps???" that points you to here -> http://members.troublecodes.net/hondadude/Swaybar_%20bushings.htm and instructs you to grease you sway bar bushings. This fixed my car over the weekend!

thanks for the responses...i'll check the bushings & springs this weekend, as i was going to change the oil then.

sounds like it could be a low cost fix!!!

You may have a busted axle boot.

it's the passenger sidesway bar link bushings...they're shredded. any kits you recommend? our local honda dealer said it's a good idea to replace ALL the bushings (~$75 for a complete kit). there's a Moog Kit @ Advance Auto (PN# K90195) for $50, but i don't know if they're an apples to apples comparison. just wondering what others have used w/ success???

If you're going to replace the bushings I'd look into polyeurethane bushing kits.... if they are around the same price as the rubber ones I'd get them instead to "firm up" everything.... Once in a while they may squeek a little bit but otherwise they're a nice addition....
