Default "Maintenance required" .. What color should it be?

I never saw this before, but I now see that it has this.. and it looks like it's yellow... is that thing a light? What is that thing? I only need to check the codes if the actual red CEL is on, right? If I do need to check them anyway it is under the passenger kick panel and you just jumper it like you would on a chevy?

Maint Req is a remider that you need to have "some service" done. On this gen I think it is a simple "counter" that reminds you to change your oil.

Poorman is correct it just changes color every 3,000 miles I think. If you look right next to it on the cluster there is a little black button. You will find your key fits perfectly into the button and will reset it to green.

I think it turns yellow, at a certain mileage, then red, after additional miles. It's only a reminder to do the maintenance, so nothing is wrong with the car. The Check Engine Light (shaped like an engine) would mean there is a problem, and there are codes stored. Like he said, push your key into the little slot next to the light, and it will go back to green.

For your 2003, it's a slightly different reset procedure. I'll look it up and post it for you; but, it is in the owner's manual.

Thank you! I don't have an owner's manual as of yet, my car didn't come with one.
