Default Maintenance Signal

I just bought my car 2~3 weeks ago. (2003 LX)

Now when I operate my car, there is manintenance required signal. I know it comes for periodic maintenance, but it just checked out from Honda (certified used car.)

Do you guys think I should go to honda shop for any service? I'm really stupid about car, and also it is my first car. Please give me some advice.

hey maintenance required means that your car needs GENERAL maintenance IE. an oil change and whatever is recommended to do in your service book for the current mileage that you have on the car. to reset the light, you just hold down the reset button for you odometer i think, just ask DEserthonda, im pretty sure he knows exactly how to do this.

lightshow is correct ,
first off to clear the lite, hold down the reset button, put the key on, about 10-15 seconds. lite will flash and it will be cleared..

As for it coming on, it is set to come on around 7500 miles , it is a reminder to customer to get maintanance on their car,, 7500, 15000, 22500 30000 services etc etc..

You can safely drive with maintanance lite on , it is nothing to worry about ,and you don't have to follow Honda schedule for services or have a honda dealer work on your car ,,,,,,,,,,,for example ,, they say to do an oil change ever 7500, i would not reccomend it , do it every 3000-3500 miles ..

yep you should def change your oil every 3500 miles especially if you using bulk penzoil (which is what they use at every jiffy lube and prolly every other quick oil change shop) and has been clinically tested and officially certified as the ****tiest oil you could put into your car. its like they put a bag of rocks in it or something...lol

Thank YOu for the advices. And I have question. how much does it charge for the general maintenance? I'm not sure there is anything to change in my (new?) used car, but I hope to check it. If I have the maintenance service without changing anything, then do they charge any fee? I just hope to know how this system is working. Thank You again.

well if you take it in. they will definately find something that can be fixed. plan on spending at least 50-80 bucks and depending on your mileage. lets say your at 60k or something, the 60k service costs about 400 bucks.
