Hi to all. I was reading my haynes manual about the MAP Sensor. It didnt tell me much at all. I wanted to know.. how do you know when /if your MAP sensor is bad, and what exactly it does if it is bad..If anyone knows id greatly appreciate it.

Of all the posts I've ever read, I don't remember ever hearing of a bad Honda MAP. It must have happened, but it must also be rare. I would look at more likely components before replacing an expensive MAP.

We might be able to help more w/ some symptoms

good luck

I've heard of people swapping plugs between the MAP & TP sensors when they put everything back together after an unrelated job...

If your car is new enough, the ECU is reasonably good at 'knowing' when the MAP sensor is bad so it throws a CEL.

Yea, bad maps are pretty rare. You'll usually get a map code or a fuel trim code.

Default I need help too. 1994 Accord. 2.2 Vtech

I replaced plugs, wires, and button on this beast and it did not fix the skip. But check this out. I cleaned the map sensor and it did not fix it. I left the map sensor unplugged and it did not skip but it also wouldn't idle. The check engine light came on. I took the oring out from under the map sensor and put one screw back so it could breathe and I think it fixed it. The check engine light is still on but it isn't skipping. A new map sensor is around $70. Is it safe to say this is my problem or is it something else? If I put it all back normal, the check engine light goes off but it skips under load.

Just me but I don't think the MAP is the issue - you only get codes when it is not plugged in.

Get a new o-ring, put the MAP back in and plug it in.

Does the "skip" happen all the time or just once the engine is at normal op temp?
