Default MOTOR SWAP

swaping my 97 motor (blown) with a 96. same model and all just diff years. it should work right? only difference i can see is the coil (or whatever its called where ur spark plugs go) on the 97 the main one 5th has a hole for it on the coil on the 96 i dont see the hole. cant find where it goes. help

Perhaps what you mean is the '96 has an internal coil. The coil is located inside the distributor, so there's no place on the distributor cap to plug in the coil secondary wire.

distibutor? oh my bad i thought these had on of those distributorless ingnitions like my rx7 wow i feel dumb[&:]so in other words will a 96 f22 work in a 97 accord? iam using my 97 trans ecu etc. so will it drop in no prob?

Use your '97 distributor on the '96 engine?

i definetly have an external coil, and definetly have a 96. wth?

also, what year is your rx7?

I didn't bother looking up which years were internal or external. Just took his word for it...

Besides, if you use your existing ECU & wiring harness, then using the matching distributor would make some sense anyway.

got a 96 single cam non vtec.least thats what the vin numbers say.
