Question Mystery Part Under Engine Leaking Oil

98 Honda Accord 4dr 3.0

Plate under engine leaking oil It's in the front next to the exhaust and is held by what looks like two 10-12 mm bolts. Looks easy to replace, but I have no clue what it is. Any ideas? In the photo it is the rust colored plate with oil trails.

Thanks!

I;d pull the plate and want to see what is behind it.....in my head I can place that plate right not, almost looks like a cover to the flex plate/flywheel.

So what Im saying is that is not leaking, something behind it is.

Question Another photo-expanded.

The photo here is a little expanded. It looks like there is a seal around the outer edge of the plate that is deteriorating. Little worried about taking it off and being stuck.

The part is an access cover to access the torque converter/flex plate. See #1 in attached image.

Is the leak motor oil or transmission fluid?

Regardless, you need to monitor the oil (or transmission fluid) level and add oil until you fix the leak.

There shouldn't be oil behind that cover, so you have a leak from somewhere else. Carefully inspect the engine above that cover for obvious oil leaks. The rear main seal is a definite possibility considering the location where you are seeing oil.
