Default NEED HELP VERY BAD 1991 accord lx

I have a 1991 Honda accord lx and noticed that it was starting to skip when you started off in first gear but would even out quick and be fine in every other gear. After a couple of days it got worse started to idle rough and also run rough at all RPMS. I changed the plugs to NGK and during the process there was oil in all the plug well. I changed the plug well seals, valve cover gasket and also cleaned the throttle body with some spray hoping that that was the problem all along. Started the car and drove it around the block a couple of times and it did nit fix it. I even took a screw driver and checked the fuel injectors and they seem to be just fine. It has 145,000 miles and I’m stuck at this point…. PLEASE HELP

Check spark plug wires and distributor cap at night w/ a fine mist of water sprayed over the parts. If you see sparks jumping, the components are defective and must be replaced. Replace distibutor cap rotor.

It could be a fuel issue, but spark is more likely.

If you have a timing light, you can check for loss of spark by checking each lead w/ timing light; no flash, no spark.

good luck

I did check the fuel filter and it looks like the original one. I'm going to change the filter and I will post later if this worked..

I changed the fuel filter and nothing I am moving on to check the spark at each wire end. Also what is an easy way to check the timing on a 1991 honda accord?

Thank you for helping me it ended up being a saprk plug wire that was arching off of the valve cover in the plug well and I could not see it. Once again thanks.

How did you resolve the wire arching off of the valve cover?

He had to replace the spark plug wires. A crack in the insulation is about the only reason for the spark to arch.

The OEM Honda wires seem to last forever, so I would suggest getting them from the dealership. The NGK or Denso spark plug wires seem to be good quality too.
