Did somebody cut off the electrical connector and hard wire the VSS?

If that is the case, I would go to a junkyard and cut the harness that goes to the VSS. Then splice the harness into your car's harness.

i figure it was cut off, and thanks for the advice i attempted to go to pull-a-parts but could not go in cause they wont let me take my 5yr old son in the yard, but as soon as i can get back up there that is exactly what im gonna do is cut another off and resplice it onto mine, i am sure that is what the problem is with the speedometer.

Is the cruise control working.......usually if the VSS is bad it will set a code.

Speedo not working could be something else.....like a bad PCB

i finally got the problem fixed! i tried to upload a pic of the old VSS but am having trouble transferring pic from phone. any way, what they did was take the wires and pushed them on to the sensor and then put some Hi-temp RTV on it to hold it in place and keep water out(that's what i figure anyway), long story short found a plug at pull-a-parts and spliced in on my car and put the new VSS on plugged it up and now i know how fast i am going! thanks for the advice check back later i will have a pic of the old VSS.
