Default New Brakes Smoking?

Hello, I recently just took my car to the shop to get my front brakes replaced
(I brought my own brakes & just pay the mechanic labor for installation)
I bought Brembo OEM brakes discs & Hawk Performance (Ferro-Carbon) pads...& I took it a drive & notice when I came to a stop I see a lot of smoke coming from my tires & has an awful burning smell....
Is this normal for new brakes?

A little is normal at first, but it sounds like you have more than that. Maybe he used too much grease & it's burning off? Maybe he didn't clean the greasy goop off the rotors (they put that on so they don't rust in the box).

I hope he didn't skip cleaning the calipers & making sure the caliper slide pins are working nicely.
