New car
So I just bought a 1991 accord coupe DX with an AT. The car seems to run fine but the tranny sometimes seems to want to hold the gear a tad longer than seems normal. It doesn't do the classic slip...just seems to be in "sport mode" even when not in sport mode. Am I crazy and this is normal for Honda? I am usually a Ford guy so I am not used to Honda's dynamics.

I would change the fluid using Honda ATF.
You may also want to adjust the cable that goes between the throttle body and transmission. Copy and paste the link below to see what I am talking about. I would adjust the slack in the throttle cable too. You want to take up most of the slack.

Ok....I readjusted the throttle cable which helped everything out a lot. The throttle response is night and day (as it should be) and tranny seems to shift a little better...not so hard. Still need to do a flush and swap out the filter though.
Thanks for the throttle adj suggestion!

Glad the cable adjustment helped.
You can't change the transmission filter on an AT accord, unless someone installed an external one.
You shouldn't have the transmission power flushed. Drain (you only get ~ 3qts out of 9 total), refill, drive minimum of 15 minutes. Repeat two more times. This will exchange most of the fluid.

I checked the dipstick though and the fluid looked very fresh. Is honda atf the typical red color?
