2002 Accord EX-L Naples Gold 85000 miles. I need to change the timing belt and while I am at it the water pump as well. Does anyone know if I need special tools to perform this job?

I just had my husband to replace the vss with a new one and the speedometer works now.BUT... when i drove it to work sensor light started blinking again and then turned to solid green. The transmission revved up and and would not change again and i changed gears on the shift(automatic) and it would not change shift speed. The speedometer still works good but the light remains on.He then replaced the lower solenoid valve and drove it down the road. The light did not go off but it changed gears. He came back home and switched off and when we got ready to leave again the transmission would not change AGAIN.... Could someone PLEASE tell me whats going on with this car. OH and he also changed the box(I don't know what it is called underneath the passenger seat as well). SO... now I have new stuff installed just about every where with the same result in the end. Once again PLEASE help me, I'm about ready to push it in the trees and let the cutsue take over it........
