Default newbi needs help with 92 honda

Hi all and thanks for the great site! My question is, I own a 92 honda accord 4cyl...lately it seems when car sits overnight or for that kind of time periode, it has to crank quite a bit until it starts...have just changed plugs, cap rotor and to no avail. could this be fuel related at all? Where might I look next? The car has 221,000 miles but otherwise runs perfect. thanks!!

welcome

your problem could be with a malfunctioning fuel system

check your fuel pump pressue output ,

my repair manual for my 2000 points to that as being a potential problem along with

low power in the battery, very dirty air filter

leaking fuel injectors , there is a test for this

distributor rotor,(which you changed already)

hope this kind of leads you ion some areas to check out

Hello and welcome to the forums..
If you suspect say an insufficent fuel delivery problem , I would first inspect all of your fuel lines to see if you might have a small leak in one of those lines that would not give you enuff pressure at the time your cranking the engine...

Again Welcome to the forums..

to test injectors you need a tool called a noid light,
you have to insert this tool into the injector wiring harness, start the engine , if the noid light flashes the injector is receiving
the proper voltage, if not, then further checks are needed.

also, beleive it or not, a stethoscope or a screw driver, if fuel injectors are working properly they make a steady clicking sound that rises and falls as you rev the engine up and down.

dude, i get his stuff from my repair manual, in your shoes i woud have a pro check it out, unless your a good mechanic
and can follow the repair manual.

hi you should first of all go to your local autozone, kragen, or something like that and have your batteries voltage checked and then have your alternator checked after that.....the battery usually dies b4 the alternator...if the battery is low on volts have them charge it for you then run you car for about a few min and then shut it off....now start it...if its still not cranking like it should...then its your alternator..have them test it like i said b4 and bam hopefully its the alternator..if it is..let me know it was a **** to take it out but u neeed time ....alternators run about 140- 180 with a core charge(which means u give them back your not working alternator)..and it should have a limited lifetime warranty....u might wanna get a new battery if the car ..its only 80bucks

Waaaaait just a second!

the car starts and runs... theres no probem

for some cars its taking more time to start for some less - it is cold out - if the car starts - I wouldnt even worry about it.

If you worry too much get a bottle of drygas pour it in the fuel tank - and stop wasting time on unnessecary part replacements.

P.S. if the car wouldn't start at all - then we will deal with your problem (...and i have some thoughts about what might cause it)
