Default Newbie Needs help!!

I have a 2004 Accord V6, and while trying to replace the front door speakers I accidently broke the door cable latches on both doors! ugh. and now I have to open the door from the outside which is a pain... Anyways I purchased both cables and tried to replace them myself but failed since I didnt go in there knowing what I was doing. I asked around a few shops and they want $100 to replace them both. Since Uncle Sam is the one signing my check I really cant afford that right now. lol I want to give it another try at it so if u have any advice on how to remove that cable it would be very much appreciated.. Thanx!

Sedan (4-door) or coupe (2 -door)? I am assuming sedan, since you mention front door?

Also, is it just the cable or the latch too? Here is an image, which part?

I may or may not be able to find the specific info. depending on the part.

Okay, sounds like you are referring to the inner handle cable. The cable itself should be held on by plastic clips.

Rotate the 2 plastic clips at each end of the cable to remove the cable from the clips. There is one other clip in between the cable attached to the door frame. Getting to the plastic clip and cable end attached to the latch may be more difficult; you may have to remove a latch protector to access it. The area where the latch is won't give you much room to work.

so after attempting once more I failed ever harder! not only was I not able to replace it, I ended up breaking the door latch assembly and the lock actuator! Ugh fml so anyways I just took it to the shop down the road and they are going to replace everything for cheaper than I thought. still Im very disappointed, and now come to find out I also need 4 new tires, shocks, and struts. well I know where im spending my tax return! lol oh and I also had them flush the tranny fluid, powersteering fluid and replace the cabin air filter.

Redbull, thanks for the diagrams! It's nice to finally find out that the part I've been looking for on and off for about two years is officially called a "plastic clip"! lol

Where do you get your diagrams?

Thanks!
