Default no catalytic converter

I bought 99' coupe v6 a/t with few problems. One was someone had cut out the CC and cut the o2 sensor out also. I replaced gap temp with str8 pipe. It starts fine but when u put it n gear its like it loads up and either stalls or have to keep pumping/finessing gas pedal to get it to clear up. This car set up indoors for 3 yrs when I got it. My question is how crucial to the o2 sensor to this situation?

In almost every state you will get a pretty hefty fine for not having a catalytic converter. Call your local state police HQ and ask them what happens if you get pulled over and your car doesn't have one..tell them you just bought it, and it was that way...

what are you asking? Is it ok to not run a 02?..yes it's ok not to run one but you will notice crappie MPG.
So you replaced the cat with a pipe?...if so that isn't a prob tons of ppl d this (I'm on of them) that should free up back pressure.
But' I'm unsure what your really asking...

sorrry i didnt specify my question. well one yes i do realize it is "not advised" to run w/o cat converter and no i dont think i'll call my local PD and advise them of my situation. I also doubt very seriously that if pulled over the nice PO would lay down and scootch under to verify I have one. I know there is o2 sensor used with it and i didnt know if the wires being cut and w/o one that it would make it,as i stated before, load up or having to finess the gas pedal. This accures when reversing or stopped and procceding forward. I have high manifold pressure reading guess from bad MAP, not sure. Not sure what mpg should b but it is not good at all.Other than that tranny causing problems but could b the solenoids. Has 150,000 and runs strong. Thinking of selling and go back to my spyder v6 m/t. Thanks guys for what yall do for us guys who can do if had helpful advice.

It depends which O2 sensor was cut out. If it is the one before the catalytic converter, then you can have poor gas mileage and some running problems. If it is only the second sensor in the catalytic converter, then the car should run normally. That second O2 sensor only monitors the converter and does not affect the engine.

Your check engine light should be on without the O2 sensor. The D4 light would flash if your transmission was having problems. I would have the codes scanned at a parts store to start figuring out why the car is running poorly.

well my code scanner aint honda quality by no means but it tells me some things to look up. previous owner musta removed lamp bc no lighty but pull 5 codes. one was high voltage in map sensor and one problem in shift control (i dont have flashing d4 light but several tranny codes)mostly soleniod checks but one was on torque converter. will have to update later on that but as i said no flashing d4 which if thats the gospel, i might get lucky. Naw but i know i must install o2 sensor and CC but might try just the o2 first unless pull a part will stock up on these models. thanks guys

I use a test pipe in my 99 accord and bypass the O2 sensor and it runs fine without check engine light on, feels like RPM responds faster maybe suffered a little mpg but nothing crazy.
