Default Oil Consumption

My company car currently has 246,500 miles on it.
It consumes abouta quart of oil every 2,000 miles.
Just checking with the collective knowledge pool to see if this sounds similar to others' experiences.

It's nothing to worry about imo. Top off the oil at every fuel fill up.

<edit> make sure there are no leaks.

do a compression check. that will tell you if the oil loss is reasonable for the wear on the internals. It sounds fine to me as well.

It's a 2001 LX.
About a month ago the compression was checked and was about 175 for each cylinder.
For unknown reasons, cylinder No. 3 is a bit lower at 165-170.

I average about 3700 miles a month in this car, it's 90% hwy miles.

well .... that's good compression. The #3 cylinder may have a bit of blow-by. Do you have any blueish exhaust?

not in my opinion if you take care of the engine (i.e. oil changes). also, if you replenish all your fluids when you need to then the engine should last a long time.

Yeah, I would check if something is leaking. Oil pan gasket comes to mind or some people have stated a rear main seal leaking.
